Doc Wants Playoff Reform

There is no doubt that the San Antonio vs Clippers playoff series has been the best match-up of the 1st round. It's been tense, action packed and back and forth. However, the eyebrows of the Head Coaches of the two teams battling have been raised, mainly due to the fact that Greg Popovich and Doc Rivers have been grumbling to one another about one thing - "Why are we playing eachother now?"

"It's ridiculous that it's a first round series" said Doc late Thursday. "That was what Pop said to me before Game one and I said the same thing. But we both decided 'what the hell it is what it is".

It's rare that a first round match-up generates as much buzz as the Spurs and Clippers meeting has but sue to the unexpectedly early run-in it's no surprise.

Rivers would have preferred this series to come a round or two later but since the Spurs lost their last game of the season to the New Orleans Pelicans and how Portland Had locked up the 4 seed due to their division title despite their inferior record the Clips and Spurs clashed early. Nevertheless, this clash of the titans has been must watch television but Doc still thinks winning division titles "shouldn't carry weight".

"You can get a banner" said Rivers. "But if our record is better a division title shouldn't supersede".

Although the outcome was unexpected for the Clippers this series has been nothing  but business for them and hopefully the Clips will be able to close out the Spurs at home on Saturday at the Staples Centre so they can move to the next round and take care of the business that must be dealt with.

"Right now it is what it is" said Clippers superstar point guard Chris Paul. "So we have to deal with it".
