With the LA Clippers' win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday the team managed to clinch the third seed in the Western Conference guaranteeing them homecourt advantage in the 1st round of the playoffs. However, The Clips have a chance to get one higher and gain the second seed but unfortunately their fate is out of their hands.
The Clippers' fate rests in the hands of the red hot San Antonio Spurs who are facing The Pelicans for their last game of the season. If the Spurs manage to win the game then they will have the 2 seed heading into the playoffs but if they lose then The Clippers will get the two seed heading into the playoffs and will have a much more advantageous position when it comes to match-ups.
If LA retain the two seed then they will face Dallas in the 1st round instead of Memphis which would be more favourable for LA since The Clips have struggled with this Memphis team for a few years now.
Gaining the 2 seed would also allow The Clippers to avoid San Antonio in the 2nd round, something that the team and fans would want since The SAS are the reigning champions and facing them in the conference finals would be much more preferable.
Since The Clippers' fate is out of their hands the team and fans can only sit,wait and watch to find out their playoff destiny and only hope things go their way.
